Stone Arch Race 2005

A Buttercup Series Race

June 18th - 19th

Rapids Riders Whitewater Kayak & Canoe Club and Mississippi White Water Park Development Corporation are the sponsors of this event with the Stone Arch Art Festival and support of Xcel Energy.

ACA Insurance, Sheriffs Water Patrol, Minneapolis Park and Recreation and US Coast Guard permits have been applied for or approved.

Jeff Bolte, with help of Alan Faust and Dean Reinke are working on the wires and gates. They have a design started  for a challenging racecourse. 

As the race parking and launch areas are on private property, we must know that you are coming. Please register with Jeff or myself, so you will be able to get onto the Xcel site, past the guard.

Tentative Schedule:

Course setup and practice will be Saturday, June 18th from 9:00am - 12:30pm. Help will be needed., 1-2:30 Race Clinics, Practice 2-4:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 19 will begin with Racers meeting at 9:00am, followed by the Racing at 9:30 A.M.

Awards  about 1:30 P.M.

WE NEED YOU!

If you are a paddler, please attend and participate in the races. Please remember that moving water experience is required to race.  We also need safety boaters

Tell all of your friend!

We will also need land based volunteers as starters, gate judges, scorers, Info Table staff (up on the Stone Arch Bridge, above the race site). Other volunteer opportunities are available.

We are working on having two-way radio communications, so spectators can hear the starter and hear course times.
