Two important events are happening in August. We'd like your feedback/action on either or both:

[1] We (the MWPDC) have a table again this year for the Rivers Council of Minnesota's annual River Night on August 10. We still have a handful of unclaimed seats. Do any of you have any interest in attending the River Night event? The Rivers Council of MN is a great group for many reasons, including this event. See the blurb on it copied below. It's a great evening float up the Mississippi from St. Paul, plus a chance to meet people from kindred river improvement groups in the region. If you think there's a chance you might be able to go, please let us know.

U.S. Senator Norm Coleman will be the Guest of Honor during the Rivers Council of Minnesota's "RiverNight" aboard the Harriet Bishop on August 10 beginning at 4:30 PM. Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commissioner Sheryl Corrigan will return as Host Committee Chair. This event to benefit the work of the Rivers Council of Minnesota features an evening of fun, music, good food and networking on the Mississippi River. Minnesota Power and Flint Hills Resources are Major Sponors of the event.

[2] Later in August, we're told, Commissioner Gene Merriam may be making a 'yea' or 'nay' decision on whether the DNR will have the MissWWPark project in its budget recommendation for this administration. We would encourage any of you to let him and the Governor's office that this is a good project for the people of Minnesota.
